A Look at Summer Seasonal 2019
We offer two seasonal collections per year: summer and winter. To define a collection is to say: it’s a moment in the season, and an evolution of the past that yields timely, original pieces in the present. It’s also a chance to collaborate and coordinate with designers and makers we love — through select, exclusive pieces and a hand-picked variety of goods for the home that bring the palette to life.
This season’s palette is light and crisp — optimistic and bright, yet of-the-earth. From stone-like matte to glossy, each glaze highlights texture and its influence on color. Canary is a vibrant yet subtly speckled matte yellow, while cool Nicasio is a misty satin matte green glaze. Emerald is electric blue-green and balanced by Sand, an earthy, gentle white.

To create special technique glazes Pisces and Sunshine, we use both brown and white clays. The Single Stem vase is cast in brown manganese clay, then dipped in white clay slip, a mixture of clay and water. Sprayed with glaze and fired, the vases are non-identical twins — color blocked hues of Pisces green or Sunshine yellow reveal how different clay materials, fired with the same glaze, reveal differences in color.
You’ll find this palette on our vases, mugs, bowls, containers, trays, and candleholders, as well as on a variety of home goods from fellow designer-makers we love: such as R+D Lab glassware in vibrant green, Àplat culinary totes, and textiles from Lapuan Kankurit and Johanna Gullichsen; tile coasters from Heath Sews Studio and the Reversible Tote in a new colorway, made with Belgian performance linen from Adelene Simple Cloth in a colorful multi-stripe pattern.
More designers and makers also have their turn creating custom and collaborative products inspired by our palette: House Industries tea towels, Studiopatro textiles, Julia Turner jewelry, Cathy Callahan pillows, and handcrafted wooden lids by Jacob May Designs in summery white oak.
