Reintroducing the Chez Panisse Line

In over a decade since its debut, the reintroduced Chez Panisse Line pays homage to French elegance and California clay, encouraging togetherness around the table, among quiet material pleasure. Originally designed in 2006, in collaboration with Alice Waters for her acclaimed restaurant. Meet today’s Chez Panisse Line, iconic shapes in an expanded palette.

Our core Chez Panisse glazes—Slate and Sand—are joined by new neutrals Sorrel and Levain. Four accent glazes—Indigo, Bluejay, Fennel, and Redwood—are available as a Side Bowl and Café Bowl. Together, the palette forms an elegant, cohesive collection of tableware, designed and made in Sausalito, California.

Through this collection, we’re reconnecting the community and creating something born out of togetherness, shaped by shared experience, and defined by the place in which we live.

Alice Waters
The Chez Panisse Line embodies shared values between Heath and the restaurant, favoring local, sustainable, and beautiful; and opposing fast, cheap, and easy. Defined by place and with attention to every detail, each piece is a frame for fresh, ethical food—the tables they adorn, vignettes for an unhurried life.

The Edible Schoolyard Project

As it has been for 17 years, a portion of all Chez Panisse Line proceeds benefit The Edible Schoolyard Project, a program that integrates edible education across every academic subject; and aims to provide a free, sustainable school lunch for all children K–12. Its mission: buy food directly from farmers and ranchers who take care of the land and their workers, and teach students the values of nourishment, stewardship, and community. Since it was founded by Alice Waters in 1995, the program has expanded, grown, and inspired organizations and organic kitchen garden classrooms throughout the country.

The updated Chez Panisse Line celebrates the deepening roots of the movement for responsible, local, handmade production—whether of food, ceramics, or other goods—and the impact of the Slow Food Movement. The reintroduced collection is a true testament to good design, beauty in nourishment, and elegance in the everyday. Click through to explore the palette—we can’t wait to see what you make with it!
