In close to 15 years exploring seasons, we’ve found a rhythm and a way forward that has us gravitating toward shapes and colors that bring us joy. We look for subtlety; that point in time when a glaze feels satisfying, exciting, and beautiful — just right. To define a collection is to say: it’s a moment in the season, and an evolution of the past, which yields timely, and original pieces in the present.
We offer two seasonal collections per year: summer and winter. Each includes an assortment of our dinnerware in special, limited-edition glazes, often featuring a new glaze technique on select pieces. It’s also a chance to collaborate with our fellow designers to inspire custom and exclusive offerings with our seasonal palette, from glass to soft goods. It’s our opportunity to dig into our history and experiment with color, material, and technique. We explore new boundaries in our glaze development and production techniques (especially hand-crafted) that’s at the heart of Heath.
This season’s palette is warm, ripe, and full-bodied. Think fruits and flowers in saturated hues: pink Wildflower, red/orange Zinnia, and deep Black Plum. Our special technique glazes, Sorbet and Sunset Fade, have a color gradient with a frosty finish. Each is comprised of a matte and glossy glaze, creating multiple colors, textures, and opacities. When creating these two glazes, we didn’t start from a sketch. The glaze chemistry simply surprised and intrigued us along the way; For us, the process is the inspiration. The seasonal collections are our time to experiment, take risks, and share our take on a color palette that feels fresh and exciting.
You’ll find this palette on our vases, mugs, bowls, containers, trays, candleholders, and products from our favorite designers, including a very special collaboration with the Heath Sews Studio, our in-house soft goods design and production studio and our friends at Vaxbo Lin Swedish designer, manufacturer, and seller of pure linen goods since 1989. The new Reversible Totes in Heron Blue, Hickory, and Pomegranate are made with Vaxbo Lin’s signature herringbone and twill patterned fabric, exuding careful craftsmanship, artisan manufacturing, and a timeless design.
In the winter of 2017, Cathy and Robin visited the Vaxbo Lin factory in Sweden and spent time with founders Hanna and Jacob Bruce, inspired by the company’s craft and parallels to Heath — Hanna and Jacob are also a husband and wife team who took ownership of the heritage Swedish linen manufacturer in 2006. Reinterpreted in tonal shades of linen and canvas, and a supple vegetable-tanned leather base, the Reversible Tote takes on a softer, refined character.
More fellow designers and makers also have their turn creating custom and collaborative products inspired by our palette: T Project Teas, hand block printed runners from Galbraith and Paul, soft goods from Alabama Chanin and Skinny laMinx, and so much more. Our Summer Seasonal collection offers a fresh look at color, for this summer, and any time of the year.
