Carolina Jimenez
Mexican-American artist Carolina Jimenez calls her woven works “monuments” — to memory, bodies, and daily life. Many of her pieces incorporate Oaxacan cotton dyed with pigments from tea, cochineal, avocados, and other natural materials. “The pieces aren't meant to be held or touched but there’s something haptic in it,” she says, “the materials draw you into a conversation about what textile is and how you value it.”
