Design Series Six: Growing Small

The Design Series is an opportunity for Clay Studio Director Tung Chiang to explore ideas with clay throughout an entire year. For Design Series Six over 125 mini clay collectibles were cast and formed by hand. The designs of the pieces were driven by the tactile experience of holding the objects in the hand. Extracted from molds in basic form, the pieces were hand-altered and individually enhanced. Resulting in a collection of related, yet one-of-a-kind objects that celebrate the skillful art of mold-making, while questioning the boundary between one-offs and editions.
